Hose problem

I have a hose in my back yard that I use to hook to my reverse osmosis filter. I have had that hose there for years and nothing has happened. Now, however, I have had to replace the hose two times because something keeps piercing it from two sides. It looks like a small bite. But what could make such a small powerful bite that could pierce through a hose.

Has any one had a problem like this? It does not looks like a nibble. It looks like in one bite it pierced the hose. The apperatures are very small, and always top and bottom gets pierced. Maybe it is an animal that has found out that by piercing the hose, it can get water. I am going to leave some water outside and see what happens. The piercing of the hose always happens near the same spot.

I am begining to think that it might be a mouse, but I am not quite sure.
