Carnivorus plants in Gel?

Ive been poking around this site, and know that if you fert a Carnivorous plant, you rot the roots. Now, my question is, can you place a Carnivorous plant in Water gel? (the same as Biogel but with no ferts in her) or will it just kill the plant?
