It would be OK if you just have to, but drainage is generally the best way to go. Add some perlite or silica sand in 1/1 mix so that waterlogging does not occur.

will desert sand work?

What does the package say as to what is in it? Rinse all soil media before use.

well desert sand is all it is and it also says that it can be used for interior house plants and it also says it can be mixed with long-fibered sphagnum moss. And it says it is a great soil mixer and soil cover.

also I just e-mailed the people that owns the company so I will know if the sand is ok with a sundew and peat moss.

CP 's are not ordinary houseplants. though. They can't deal with nutrients.

I just got a message from the company I e-mailed about the desert sand they said my sundew will be OK as long as it is not sensitive to silica. But are sundews sensitive to silica?

I always read about using silica sand for CP's, so I'd say it should be just fine.
