crickets shouldn't be able to chew through, but I would kill them before hand just to play it safe. Another alternative is dried bloodworms sold at the pet store. You can feed them to any plant except venus flytrap, which require live prey to stimulate digestion.

Put them outside and let them catch their own food! Should be past danger of freezing by now.

place out side in the summer (among other plants is fine but keep in there pots) and watch the ants commit suicide

Not sure what they are. I was thinking Sarracenias. If Neps, keep indoors and catch spiders, flies, and the like and handfeed them.
