Lance Leaves do prefer temps a bit lower than high 80s, but other considerations, like humidity, might be playing a part here. While humdity is often less important than light for a sundew's dew production, humidity fluctuations caused by air flow, like a fan or central air hitting the leaves directly all the time, might dry them up too fast. Hence, the uppermost sundew leaves drying out while the protected young plants keep their dew.

Adult plants near the end of their life cycle will slow down in leaf production, produce half formed leaves, and stop producing dew, so it does not sound like old age yet.

I've had them in temps that got as high as the low 90's. They didn't suffer. Room temp at a window sill does well by them.

2. I've been patient and observant the past few days. The high in my room was 91. Hubert gets between 750 and 1000 footcandles for 16 hours/day, i feel this is more than sufficient. Now here is what I overlooked before... We don't run our AC during the day because we aren't here and my window is always open all day. However, in the evenings the AC does go on and the window gets shut. The relative humidity drops from about 50-60% to about 40%. There is a drop in temp at night to the low 70's in my room, and that's not taking into account the lights going off and the plant losing it's "inner heat" if you will, but I don't feel like it's fast or drastic enough to be of any problem. What do y'all think?

3. Assuming that it is the humidity what should I do? Should I get a humidifier in my room to buffer the change. Placing a humidity dome on top at night and then removing it in the morning. The leaf remains (minimally) dewey in the interior. Its the mega tentacles on the edge of the leaf that lose their dew and wilt. And the plantlets still have 50 million times more sticky shiny goo.
