Nice find, but it will definitely need to be closer to a window. Try for south and east or south and west. They will grow the strongest in the brightest light you can give them. For indoor growing you need to get them as close to the window as possible to get good results. Its also a bit too close to the ceiling. Try to get it level with the bottom of the window to get the most light. A tray might help you catch all that water that will run out the bottom during watering.

Could I hang it outside? I'm in zone 8a.

Yeah, during the spring, summer, and fall. However if you want to avoid burn you need to put it in a shady spot like under a tree. Also, outdoors they will need a tray, especially during the summer. I grow all of my neps on the tray system because the heat would dry them out in a few hours during the summer without it. Use a shallow tray, about one or two inches is fine for the hottest months.

I moved it down from the ceiling about a foot and a foot and a half closer to the westerly facing window, plenty of sun on it now. To put that in perspective, the top of the plant is below the top of the glass by about 4 inches and the bottom of the pitchers is about 9 inches above the bottom of the window and the center of the plant is just under a foot away from the glass., there are also tropical plants under it with water trays so that'll help with humidity a bit I assume and extra water just drips into the trays.

My nepenthes is not getting any new pitchers on it. Anyone know why?
