You could do that, but why? I recently did about the opposite. I removed the top portion of two plants and repotted. Then I saw ~15 plantlets underneath. D. adelae is also notorious for, "playing 'possum". Don't change conditions, hoping to find the right ones, that will cause the plant to bounce back. Just let it be, even for several weeks. New plants should spring up from the roots.

One other thing though. You said it gets direct light... I hope not direct full sun outside as that will cook the plant. D. adelae do not like full sun, only partial or indirect sun like in an east window would be good. In any case, D. adelae do die off after a couple of years so you might have an old plant. The roots will make offspring in any case, so just give it time.

Give it bright light, NO direct sun. Then leave it alone. It'll be fine. rainwater or distilled only.

Tom, do you mean, "bright Shade" / indirect light?

Yes. Mine do not get direct sun, bright light through a qbone white colored curtain in a west window.

Also, I have one that is pushing out a baby plant from a DRAINHOLE at the bottom of the pot!
