Northern California would be loads better but if you can a plant that is established it can handle the heat. Mine survives a few days at 90 F, but then again, it didn't come from a Lowes cube of death. According Savage Garden, they do okay on window sills.

The main thing about Darlingtonia is the quality of the water. You will need either distilled or r/o water. And you will need to keep the plants roots exposed to water moving through its substrate. Ice water is not necessary.
I use r/o water. While my drip system is pretty basic some have collection basins and recycling pumps to recycle the water back through the system. Some even have an old or one of the mini freezers set up with circulating tubes running through the freezer or use the freezer as the collection basin that water is recycled from. Lots of ideas out there. Our water is state water and in the summer it can be warm when it comes out of the tap but I collect into a rain barrel and it cools off enough to be safe for the plant. My system is the easiest and most cost effective for me. Just refill the drip tub and let the water flow out onto the concrete so that it can evaporate and help maintain a localized humidity that could help the plant grow. See my system on the link below.

I have one from Lowes that was going well, then got a bit funky once it went outside. When temps hit the 90s for 3 or 4 days I brought it in under the lights on the plant shelf. It went back outside and didn't seem to show any signs of growing. I pretty much forgot about it and only poured cold water over it a couple of times but did situate the pot behind a larger one for shade. I'm pleased to say (and I'm probably jinxing it by doing so) that it is indeed growing a couple of new snakes. It has rained a good bit here in recent weeks which probably helped. My fingers are crossed and I'm going to just keep on not messing with it for now.
