Yes they sell them this time of year. They usually have VFTs, sundews and pitcher plants at the one near me. Purple pitchers, Rubra, d. adalae sundews. I immediatly repot any I buy there in a 50/50 mix of peat moss and perlite.

And as petiolaris indicates often, try to catch them just as they get a shipment in so you can save plants that have little chance of dying on you. I have seen entire shipments of hybrid Sarracenias in hardware stores that were dying even after a couple of weeks. Of course, the instructions were completely bogus too, leading to the plants' deaths as much as the neglect they received. I have no idea what place those plants are grown at, but the instructions are the strangest I have yet seen... (fertilize plant once a month, water once a week allowing soil to go dry, place in indirect sun...) Who are these jokers? Sarracenias require exactly the opposite of those instructions.

They sell Perlite, Sphagnum peat, somewhat appropriate sand, and long fibered sphagnum. So does Home Depot. Lowes has D. adelae, spatulata, S. purpurea, S. Judith Hindle, Darlingtonia, VFT's, N. ventrata, to name a few.

Be careful about buying peat moss and perlite at lowes. The one here only sells Miracle Gro. They add their silly fertilizer to everything...the clerk tried to convince me that it was in innocuous amounts and wouldn't cause any harm, but I didn't trust him.

I use the 2.2 bales of sphagnum peat, not the Scott's brand. The latter has additives. Rinse all media well before using.

Good point Bob, I HATE that these companies are making so many different potting soils/perlite mixes now a days. Miracle grow much have half a dozen or more mixes. It only serves to confuse people.
