I'LL Refraize my question .Seems i goofed up . I know the the leave pads where the tenticals are located u can get plantlets .15 to 20 new plantlets .I've been reading alot on here .Seems bacic that part .Hopwever I've seen nothing about staghorn petioles's being used . . However can the long petioles . Even when u cut away the the older dying leaves that are still green ? I know the petioles are very long . Are they useful in leave propigation ? TY and good growing to all . Scott .
Well... when I was brand new to the hobby, a friend sent me the whole leaf, including the non-carnivorous part. So I planted that part in the media, with the carnivorous part not touching the media. I got nothing. Aside from sprouting them in water, laying the carnivorous part on the media sprouts a good 15-20 new plants. It seems the opposite with other sundews / Cephs / VFT's, where you need the white / basal / petiole.
Ty very much for u;re answers petiolaris .This sure clearified things .I've actualy took a few cuttings and am using the same bottal water methode .At least now I can shorten them now .When my plants first arrived on June 26th , I remebered that photo from a yr ago . I think I made an error by putting some in bottle water Polaris . While putting other cuttings in soil . Just exparmenting at the moment . Ty for posting the photo's . Good luck and happy growing to u and all .Sincerly Doowop 6116 .
up date .The 2 leave cuttings from my binata Staghorn's are producing at least 25 plantlets to each leave . I origenly took these cutting's on June 26 th .And sealed them in a bottal of pure RO water . Now I'm just waiting untill they get roots .Then i;ll transplant them to soil soon . Good luck and happy growing all . Sincerly Scott .
