how do i prevent my two new drosera capensis (which look amazing right now..just flowered and set seeds) from finding a similar fate?

Capensis is a tropical plant. They can handle pretty cool weather but I would move them inside under fluorescent lights or in a window when temps drop below 60 to keep them looking nice. They can stand cooler temps but also get stunted.
