Sundew dying? or dormancy?

I have a sundew I bought at Lowes earlier this year. I haven't changed the media it was in and have been using distilled water to water it. However, just within the past week the main stalk has started to either die or go into dormancy. The main stalk has never had dew on its leaves except for when it was in the container. Once I opened it up and acclimated to my house, it grew and produced leaves, but never had dew. Now there are some smaller dews under it that have started to grow and the smaller dews have started to produce Dew. Now I keep my dew by a window with window open and the temperature here has started to drop to around 50's at nite but still can get up to 70 degrees during the day. Is this big dew undergoing dormancy? or is it just dying? is the container pot too small now?

The smaller dews look health though.

These don't go into dormancy, the mother plant might just be on the way out. You could cut off just the main plant and the babies will grow for you just fine. Before you know it the pot will be full again! Also, give it bright, indirect sun most of the day.

So that happens? A Sundew plant won't live forever? Even though that one wasn't producing dew. I thought it was growing well until it just suddenly started to curl the leaves.

Remember, the place you bought it from and your house are 2 totally different environments. Go buy a ficus plant and bring it home! In several days it'll lose most of it's leaves!

The window open might be dropping the temperature too low at night. I started closing my window this week, cause it was hitting mid 40s at night here, and my Monkey Cup and Cape Sundews are closest to the window.

D. adelae does this... it just does. The root is the most important part to pay attention to. As long as the root is turgid, it has life and will likely produce rounded plantlets.
