I haven't grown Pings in them. When I was attempting to grow a Lucky Bamboo in one, and a Sarracenia in another, they didn't have enough cohesion to hold the plants up -- basically they sunk into the beads.

They DO however work really great mixed in with peat moss and perlite -- i.e., as part of a bigger soil mix. I don't know about cuttings, but it sounds like a good idea.

I don't think it would be good for any CP. CPs live in acidic soil. If you're not using acidic soil you need to use acidic water. I see nothing but disadvantages.

That was kind of the cool thing with the pings, they just kind of float on top of the beads...

garyfla It was just one of those things... I had a few packs of the beads that someone gave me that had been laying around for a while, I was dividing up a few of my pings because they had way out grown their pots & since I had so many I just thought I'd give it a shot... I guess it was more of a Novelty thing than an Advantage thing... They do look kind of cool floating in a bowl of florescent beads though...

Pings vary in PH so you could be ok there depending on which ones you grow. Some even like a more alkaline soil but I'm not sure which ones other than Mexican pings.

We've been having such a drought have been thinking of using some of the beads in spite of the cost Hadn't thought os using them on CP though. Always fun to experiment with different media. I grow some orchids in scintered glass looks fantastic with the sun shining through. Good luck with your experiment!! I though maybe you'd made a discovery lol gary
