Watering, Feeding, Dormancy,

I've got a VTS and Sarracenia purpurea, and i'm just curious about their watering needs.

i know enough about them, not to give them

water from the sink, and to give them distilled.

but it's been a hassle to go to the store and get the bottled water, recently i've changed the watering

needs of all my plants. I give them water from my aquarium, and most of my other plants seem to be thriving.

so i'm guessing i'm doing the right thing.

but i'm not sure if the water is right or not.

anyone have any tips or ideas?

(ever since i changed the water for my lucky bamboo, the

leaves have stopped becoming yellow, and there's new growth.

so i think i'm doing something right. i'm not too sure.)

also, it's almost time for them to go dormant what with the weather changing and all.

so i assume that it's gonna turn black.

what should i do while this is happening?

and how do i check to see if it's still alive in a couple of months?

also for watering, i should probably cut back on it right?

and just keep the soil moist?

(btw, i keep them in the same plastic containers that i bought them in and they seem to be doing pretty well.)

I wouldn't give the CPs aquarium water. To many minerals,etc. in that. It's fine for regular plants however. Rain water is another choice that is VERY GOOD. Start collecting rainwater. Sit both plants in a tray with about an inch of the water.

It will also have nutrients from fish waste. Stop or you will kill them. Rain,RO or distilled water only.

And if you know and trust a local water course, like a creek, you can use that too. I use that when the rain water isn't available.

thank you. that helps.
i just worry that the pollution here is awful
so i'm weary of rain water.
i'll switch over to distilled.
what about water purifiers?
the kind you attach to the sink.

i would not use water purifiers becaus it won't remove salt, but you can put a r/o water system under your sink like his one http://www.freedrinkingwater.com/products.htm and send us a photo of your plant!

:) do you really want a picture of my plants?
i'm alittle worried about giving my plants rain water
especially because i worry about the air pollution.
anybody got advice for that?

I wouldn't worry about air pollution being in the rain water. Just make sure it's rinsed the roof off before collecting from roof run off. Make sure gutters are clean. When a newbie I killed some sarracenia by catching the first run off which contained exhaust soot. Should have known by the brown tint to the water. Doh!

what do you mean "rinsed the roof off?"
are you suggesting i take a hose up there and rinse my roof?
cause im not gonna do it hehe.
