Hello Drwurm,

From what I gather, Nepenthes epippiata is not as difficult to grow as some of the other highlanders, though it will be a bit more demanding than a N. sanguinea or N. ventricosa. You can probably get by on trying to adapt the plant slowly to your humidity levels first with a clear plastic bag, punching several 1/4-1/2 inch holes in the bag every 3 days until the bag no longer holds humidity after about 2 weeks. It might also be able to adapt to your temperatures though it will have to come inside during winter. Just keep an eye on the plant and see how it reacts to each change in turn and alter the conditions as your able to match its natural conditions for what it did not like in the environment there.

Alternatively, you could just set up a terrarium that would house it for a couple of years and duplicate its natural conditions, but you would have to be able to alter the temperature at a whim and keep the plant from getting waterlogged by providing good drainage (or just placing it in the terrarium still in its pot) and airy Nepenthes mix.

you dont need a terrarium. i grow all my small nepenthes in a glass tank. my large nep alata is going to be a house plant. go to www.cobraplant.com they have nepenthes ceasar and nepenthes rajah. i might get the ceasar since it is a hybrid. the rajah is way beyond my level ill admit that.

Hanging baskets and planters also work well. The thing about Neps, all temperature considerations aside, they need 11-13 hours of light on them or else they will stop pitchering.
