Go to a local garden center and get "Mosquito dunks", they contain BT and kill mosquito larva. Just put 1/4 of one in your water storage container.

When handling small live insects in water use a toothpick and the surface tension of the water will hold the insect to the toothpick for a few seconds or even minutes. You can even dip the tip of the toothpick in sundew dew to increase its gripping power on mosquitos and fruitflies. Transfer the insect to an open trap and trigger it. When it closes, pull the toothpick out slowly between the teeth and the insect will continue struggling to free itself from both the water tension and the trap. Make sure the insect does not drown before the trap is triggered enough to narrow (close tighter) or it will be wasted effort on the plants part as it will reopen thinking their is nothing left inside.

Tweezers are better used with Nepenthes, sundews, and butterworts as you can just drop the insect or spider into the trap without worrying about the tweezers tearing anything.

Larger insects can be handled with weak tweezers and only so far as getting it to the leaf of a Venus Flytrap, but not inside. Use toothpicks and other implements to direct the insect if needed. Better yet, let nature take its course and let the plant capture live flies on a porch outside while you sit back and relax.

If you are concerned about the plants not catching anything on their own, I have found that placing some rotting fruit outside with the plant next to it yields excellent results.

Mosquito egg rafts look like small (~2-3mm) peices of charcoal floating on the surface of the water. Often you'll find several loosely clumped together.

I have done excatly the same as antechron. I also use freezed dried bloodworms (fishfood) for butterworts and sundews.
