Ok, I just wanted to share a nice little food source success story. I may have mentioned before that I was pleased to discover a couple slugs on a dish that we had put out for a stray cat which I cleaned off and fed to my fly traps. Well, the slugs just keep on a' rollin'.
I carved two pumpkins for halloween. One of them I cut clean through and one I scored so that the pumpkin was for the most part in tact but the image was obvious. The problem with scored pumpkins is that you can't put candles in them without cutting air holes but we found a light and it worked just as well. On the plus side, the one I scored (took the skin off of instead of cut clean through) has held up much better than the other one and for some reason, has attracted about a dozen slugs.
I'm not sure why the one has slugs and the other does not but I'm assuming there is a reason. If anyone has an idea about this I'm all ears. My point being, my three fly traps ate well today.
The different variables between the pumpkins...
The one with slugs:
scored, not carved
hasn't shown heavy signs of degridation yet
Use a light and not a candle
One without slugs:
Carved
Has been degrading much faster
used a small candle (which added smoke...)
