have been there several times and though I've never looked for them I suspect they';re not too common. Most of the tropical species seem to be Asian or African.
What you will be dazzled with is the epiphytes!! Something like 10,000 species!!
Have you checked the biota listings?? There are something like 60,000 species of plants in the area. Wish I were going with you ,Love the place. Be sure to visit the high altitude Cloud forests. Like visiting another planet. gary

I would not be surprised to find a few Butterworts, Sundews, and Bladderworts there. South America is also home to Heliamphora, though I am not sure if you would find that particular genus of pitcher plant growing naturally in Costa Rica. While you are there you might ask around at museums and botanical gardens to find out what species of carnivorous plants are natural to the area and then try to find some.

there are a few pitcher plants that grow there. ive also seen venus flytraps but im not sure if those were imported. but you should definately check out Arenal and the national parks and resort areas in the small city. i have never searched for the carniverous plants while i was there but i did run into some and looking back on pictures. i did see them. :)

You might inquire about the bromeliad Catopsis berteroniana. I can't say for sure that it grows there.
