Byblis liniflora will require specific stratification methods to get them to germinate. Smoked sphagnum or gibberilic acid treatment will help the embryos break down the seed coat and sprout after 3-4 weeks. You will have to keep them very warm as well, over 80 degrees.

I suppose with all those specific requirements they would be thought of as difficult to get going in relation to other species. Once you have met the requirements, you would probably consider them easy to grow. It is all according to perspective. The main thing is to read up on the environment they live in and try to replicate what happens to them in that environment. Byblis liniflora are summer annuals that you will simply have to obtain seeds from each year so that you can continue growing them.

Some easier plants to start from seed would be Drosera, particularly capensis (Even easier if you just get an adult plant and let it flower). I would suggest starting with tropical perennials that do not have special requirements so that you can work your way up to the ones that do have special requirements. That will build experience and confidence while you study up on the species you want to grow that might be harder to acquire or care for.

Actually, teh Giberallic Acid if for the B. gigantea. The B. liniflora, as long as the seeds are viable, is a lot easier to germinate. Some people use a 10% bleach solution to break through the purple dye (growth inhibitor and some don't. Some take the D'Amato approach and store seeds in the fidge before germinating and some don't. I actually recently tried all four combinations with the same batch of seeds and got roughlu equal germination, no matter what I did. Basically, sprinkle seeds in moist media and cover. Keep above 70 F but don't create a greenhouse effect. Viable seeds will germinate in about 10 days.

ok so guess my question was too vague, I meant what's been YOUR experience in growing them. I'm not inexperienced with growing seed nor cps. (just don't currently have many)

They like warm, well-lit environs and are pretty delicate. Not a beginner's cp.
