Relocating to NC; plant suggestions?

I will soon be relocating from Seattle, WA to Wilmington, NC. I love to garden (indoor and outdoor, potted and earth, both edible and not), does anyone have suggestions of plants that grow well in the area? Obviously the climate is much different than what I have experience in...

Post this in the main forum- this forum has VERY little traffic anymore. Also, you may want to run a few searches first because we get at least 2 or 3 such requests a year, so a lot of the info is posted again and again. Welcome!
