Would anyone happen to know what fig tree would do well here in the mountains? About 2,000 ft - zone 7

Thanks

RE: Fig tree in NW North Carolina

i'd go to edible landscaping's site- they are atop a mtn in VA, and should have similar conditions. they sell quite a few varieties. certainly 'chicago hardy' would work. you may want to check with the fig forum folks, too- they are a great source of info, and quite a few of them are in places like NY, canada, and quite cold areas. they can give the best varieties, plus tips & tricks. and you may be able to get some scion wood from some of them for trade or SASE rather than having to pay for started ones. figs are rooted this time of year and not too hard to root.
