Plant seeds now. When starts appear (March-June) at garden shops, plant immediately - inch apart, not bunched. Hot summers here did not faze mine. Still harvesting from starts planted last June - it is February for Pete's sake and they do not know that their "season" is over. I will wait for them to go to seed later this summer so that the raised bed is filled with them exclusively.
