Great New Pollinator Garden Project in Chatham County

Hey, Y'all,

Bringing good attention to the new Pollinator Garden project in Chatham County, planted this winter at the Chatham Marketplace Co-op grocery. The wonderful Debbie Roos, Sustainable Ag Agent for Chatham, who supports all our good local farmers with up-to-date info, has created a truly exemplary planting for pollinators. I was glad to advise and help this project right down in the dirt, but, it's Debbie's vision that we have to look forward too. And, a very gracious benefactor, sweetly anonymous, that made it all happen.

What's so different about this project is that it's really concentrated on Natives; Debbie made every effort to make it as NC specific native as possible, and, of course, the non-natives have to do well here as well, without coddling. Debbie also teaches a full to the brim--- 100 plus, beekeeping school for Chatham Co, and knows her stuff with pollinators, honeybees, and native bees. I can't wait to see this new garden grow and flourish, especially in such a good public space.

Her website, "Growing Small Farms", is through the NCSU Extension Agency, and, really, just bookmark it. The information there within the state is incredible, and the other links to sustainable gardening will make it your nexus of information. Debbie is tireless, and always adding great info, and a great photographer as well.

The link below is to this specific project. Scroll down to her plant list; it's a great clear guideline to planting for the pollinators we all love.
