Thank you. Carpenter bees are always very conspicuous, especially with the white dot on their face. The males are forever buzzing us as we walk in and out of the hay shelter, since they react toward anything that moves. Often they are rolling around on the ground in each other's arms at our feet, fighting. I know the males can't sting.

I'm glad you shared that- 'cause i looked and didn't see a dot in the other pix. I'd never noticed that before, but now i'll look next time i see one. They love our shed.

Yes, in the first set of pictures you can only see the female's face, which is all black, and you only see the male in profile or from the back. I was beginning to wonder if I could get any other pictures of a male, they spend so much time whizzing around defending their territories. When do they eat? How long do they live, leading such a crazy life? lol. But this male bee took time out for a snack and I was able to snap a few pics.
