| I was thinking of purchasing some seeds of ornamental cotton to grow this year - does anyone know if there are restrictions on growing this in NC because cotton is a commercial crop in the Eastern part of the state? |

| technically, yes. it's under the same strictures as regular cotton. but if you're only growing a few plants you should be ok. if you want to be conscientious get a boll weevil trap and set it up so you know if they come in- that's the big issue. a friend who writes a column for a local mag ran across this very issue last yr. if i recall right you have to report that you intend to grow it (not with whom- i guess call your local coop extension- they'd know), agree to set up a trap/monitoring station, and possibly be open for inspection (which wouldn't happen). |
