You will do better to plant these in the fall. At least that's the situation here. I see you are in a cooler zone. I have given away many at spring trades, and recipients have told me they died. There may be various reasons, but I have suspected a fall planting is better.

They may be one of those plants that needs to sit still in a pot for a long time before being replanted. When I've dug up suckers from my plant I don't think I lost a one, but I didn't get around to planting them in the ground for over a year.

They are also easy from seed and most folks that have a bush have a supply of seed each winter.
