Private Tour of Elizabeth Lawrence' Home April 20

Some of us over at Dave's Garden (who sneak over to GardenWeb too...shhhh.....!) wanted to share that we have gotten a small group of people together who are going to meet up on Sunday April 20 for a private tour of Elizabeth Lawrence's former home and garden!!!

They will admit no more than 20-25 (so far, I think we have about 10-12), and the current homeowner, a wonderful gardener in her own right, will show us around.

For those who don't know, Elizabeth Lawrence was a prodigious gardener and garden writer in the 1940' and 50's. She wrote a weekly column for the Charlotte Observer (?), was in demand as a speaker, and wrote many books still in print today. She was one of the first female graduates of landscape design at NCSU and lived in both Raleigh and Charlotte. Her Raleigh home no longer exists, but her home and the gardens she designed in Charlotte are alive and well.

This is a casual affair--tour starts at 1:30 pm. Google it for directions etc--there is a website. Not sure at this point if there is an admission charge--assume at least a donation possibly (this is a private home, not normally open for tours). Please email thekoop@yahoo.com if you are interested. There is a carpool from the Raleigh area, and maybe others, FYI. First come, first served, please don't just show up without notifying us, Thanks
