Yet, one more question on EE's

I had to go pick up a load of dirt today and the hardware had some beautiful young Black Magic EEs and a really nice "standard" as they had it labeled. I couldn't resist since I don't know the fate yet of my Jacks Giant or my Black Magic I planted last year. So they followed me home. So I started thinking on the way home about the best way to care for them and make sure they overwinter properly next fall. I'm thinking to take a large pot, and plant them in that, then bury the pot half way into the ground. Hopefully to give them a good environment to grow and easy pull up for overwinter in the greenhouse. Has anyone tried this method before? Thoughts??
