I saw a male two days in a row last week and not since then. Hopefully he'll be back and bring some friends. Maybe my dancing and singing scared him off.

I'd think they'd like the dancing and singing! My DH was just playing the banjo in our garden room (with view of feeder) and the hummingbird showed up. I ran to check this thread! Over the last few years, we've noticed that they are attracted to banjo music! This was a male and he hovered by the window to try to see in! LOL

My little friend showed up at my windowbox on my deck a little over a week ago. I haven't had a chance to watch for them much but I've seen them darting in and out of my trees, and all around my deck where my flowers are. They have swamped my feeders, draing two completly and over half out of a third one in less than a week!! I just walked my dogs a few minutes ago and spooked on one of the feeders and he buzzed right by my ear! LOL I'm not used to seeing them yet this year and had to do a double take to make sure I didn't have a peed off Bumble Bee after me!!! :-) YES!!!! the Hummies are back!!

Haven't seen the hummers yet but the Wood Thrushes are back (at least one of them). One of the best backyard birds to have. Sings during the mornings and evenings (a beautiful song no less) and they get very brave and allow you to get quite close to them when they are desperately trying to keep the chicks fed. My yard is big enough to support two pairs!

The first male ruby-throated to check out the feeder came through on April 8th - he hovered briefly, but did not partake. I came across a note in my garden journal from 2005 recording my first sighting on April 7th.

I love the wood thrushes, too - such a treat to have them in residence. Saw the first one of the season last week, scarfing sunflower seed on the deck railing, hopping along as they do.

Had my first hbird yesterday at 3:15....it was funny because I was washing dishes, looking out the window and thinking to myself..."Could the birds in this yard be any more boring today..just 2 grackles and 2 mourning doves" and then....whizzz the hummingbird appeared at the feeder!
