Name dat plant..

Short cluster of strap-like leaves sending up stalks with side shoots on each stalk where the leaves are of clustered flower heads.

The stalks look like carnations..kind segmented with two or three leaves and another side stalk originates from the segment.

The flower looks like silene..small 1/2" rosy color with five ordinary petals in a cluster where one or two flowers bloom at any one time.

But, the stalk isn't sticky and just looks distinctly carnation-like. I thought armeria but the leaves look different from the googled photos I can find.

Right now, the clump base of leaves is only a couple inches tall on a 3-4" wide plant. The stalks are 15-20" tall..hard,segmented with a couple short strap-like leaves where another side shoot stalk grows.

One plant was in a pot, (natch..no tag) and the others look like self seeded volunteers.

Might be the stalks are longer because this was forgotten in the damp shade.

Sorry..can't put up a photo but can you hazard a guess and help me google in different directions from silene and armeria?
