| I planted my small twig of the flowering apricot, Prunus Mume in March of 2003. I planted it just to the outside of a curved walk to the front door. It has been lovely in bloom in Feb. Now, it is about 15' tall and filled with millions of apricots.
When I was deciding to plant it by the walk, I didn't even realize that it would produce apricots duh! So every day, a lot of the little green apricots drop on the walk, which is very dangerous. I guess it has got to go. It also suckers a lot, but it is beautiful when in bloom. |

| I agree that the apricot drop is inconvenient, but I sweep my patio gladly for the gorgeous blooms and aroma in mid-January. What else blooms then? And there are other varieties, some weeping, some dark coral, some white or pale pink. This year is more apricots than I have ever seen with mine. I think the long, and cold, winter stressed them. The only thing I don't like about mine is that the apricots will produce baby trees, and I have to compost them - it seems like such a waste. |
