Black spot on bottom of watermelon

Bsheridan

I am a new gardener and am trying to grow some Crimson Sweet Watermelon. I have quite a few melons that have formed but several of them have gotten a big black spot on the bottom that looks like it's rotting. A few have gotten them when they were golf ball size and two of them got it when the reached about baseball size. What is causing this? I may be over watering - I am watering every night. We have had drought conditions and 100+ temperatures for weeks. The soil appears to be very dry in the evenings so I water. Is this too much? I also have some big black ants crawling around on the vines. Not sure if they are causing damage. The leaves on the vines are starting to turn yellow. I have pictures but not sure how to upload them.
