Are you out in the country? I am and see them buzzing around pretty regularly. You may be able to get one of those compressed air horns like people use on boats and at ball games. Those things would wake the dead! It should scare them into finding a new residence if they don't like loud noises. I've been lucky and haven't had a bunch of them, just the occasional passer by. If they are used to people, you will have to find something a bit unusual to their environment to scare them. Wonder if a leaf blower would scare them? Wind and noise.

I once saw a show about these birds. Did you know they have a remarkable sense of smell that enables them to locate dead meat within minutes? This was an experiment aired on PBS. A man had freshly killed chickens in a burlap bag hidden from view. He walked into the woods and buried the chicken meat beneath some leaves. Within minutes the vultures were there.

I've had problems with yellow-bellied sapsuckers destroying some trees. I've used monofilament line and silver colored CDs and aluminum pie plates to hang and swing in the breeze. It seems to have worked.
