Pittosporum struggling

User

Hi All!

Last September I planted 5 dark green pittosporum bushes out front for privacy from the street.

Unfortunately, they get full sun.

I made sure they were watered even over the winter, and come spring, I see they have split barks. I don't know what that means. I remulched real good in April, added Osmocote, and water them at least once a week faithfully.

Sometimes twice if it is hot.

The soil is sandy.

They ALL, are not growing at all. It's July, and I had planted one up in front of my house in a bed, a variegated one, and it has grown alot, but receives part sun.

Now I am thinking mabey I should plant southern conifers in the fall there that can take the sun instead.

Would green giant take total full sun? I love those.

WHat am I going to do with the pittosporums? All lthat money, I am going to try to find a spot for them.

Any other suggestions as to South Carolina conifers?

I'm in zone 8, down by Augusta in South Carolina.

Thanks for reading.
