Cluck! Cluck!!!

Latest edition of Southern Living magazine has a piece on keeping chickens in your garden. Couple of lovely coops were illustrated and the whole idea feels quite appealing to me.

Anyone keeping chickens within city limits in North Carolina or know what the rules are? Do they vary from city to city?

I think they vary from city to city so you would probably need to check your local area to find out what codes and restrictions they have there.

Anyone keeping hens in High Point?

My sister has 3 hens and a rooster in Raliegh. The hens are legal, the rooster is not, but no one has complained and she has kept him over a year now.

Gene, if you go into the Conversations forum part and to TriangleJohn's 'State of the Real Estate Market", about half way down rootdigger has a great post with lots of links for sourcing chickens/coops etc.
