low light evergreen - piedmont

I'd like to find a couple plants that could thrive under some loblolly pine and hardwoods, i.e., low light and probably low soil moisture. The purpose of this planting is a visual screen to fill in between the trees. Ideally, they would reach at least 10 feet tall. I know low light = sparse foliage, so this may be a hard order to fill.

My ideas thus far are holly and azalea. They could be poor picks, I have little experience choosing plants suitable for the N. Carolina climate. BTW, I'm in Raleigh.
