Butternut squash question

This is the first year I've tried growing them. They're pretty big, nearly 12 inches, but probably not quite ready yet. Vines are still very green and healthy. I'm concerned about all this rain - will it affect them, and should I go ahead and pick some of the big ones?

Leave them on the vine..they don't continue to ripen once picked.
On the stem end if there are distinct green stripes it's not ready for picking. It wants to develop a good,warm tan color skin overall.
