Rose of Sharon

Hey-- I'm new here-- live in West End, NC (west of Pinehurst) I have three rose of sharon cuttings that a friend gave me. I have them in pots and they have rooted and are showing leaf growth and even some buds. My question is whether or not I should over-winter them in the pots or plant them now.

It's 98 outside right now and much more hot dry weather predicted here. What do you advise?

If you have sandy soil I would wait at least till fall. Rose of Sharon are hardy down to at least Zone 5 so it would be fine to do then. Keeping them watered enough in August might be a problem especially with sandy soil and I know that there is a good amount of sandy soil in the West End area. If you put them in a large pot at least 14" by 14" they will overwinter fine even in a pot. Adele
