thinning the fall garden

I just planted the fall garden a little over a week ago. Mustards, collards, onions, radishes and 3 kinds of lettuce. It has all sprouted and its time to thin. I really don't like thinning! It sucks.

Part of the problem is definitely my fault, I planted way too many seeds in each row. I have clusters or clumps of sprouts so thick that I have no idea which ones to leave. Also I am wondering if anyone eats the little sprouts they thin out? I could fill up a bucket with the sprouts I pull out. Can someone give me a little guidance on how you thin when the sprouts are so numerous and thick? I find it very difficult for mustards, for instance, to leave one tiny little sprout every 6 inches when there are 30 little sprouts in that 6" length of row...
