Composte ?

I was out turning my compost pile, which is a soil area about 20' x 4' on the south side of my house. It is right near some crepe myrtle bushes. When I turned the composte I found numerous C shaped wormy type guys--looked very similar to the evil Japanese beetle grubs. I pulled out all I saw and smashed the brats! Later got to thinking maybe they are not JB but something that is indicative of my compost heap having problems. I do use only veg additions to the pile... Any thoughts? Thanks so much!

Everything I have read suggests that grubs in compost is a sign you are doing something right. The only things people seem to disagree over are invasive species so you may want to consider getting an identification on exactly what it is you have. Some grubs are larva of beneficial insects as well. Maybe you could take a photo and post it on the forum?
