Transplanting Rudbeckia

Derfred

Two days ago I was given 20-25 freshly dug, full grown (3') Black-eyed Lazy Susans. The bunch was in a plastic garbage bag, with a wet towel around the roots.
This was an unexpected, (although greatly appreciated) gift and I have a great, full sun location for them.
But, I am worried about the timing as the weather here in the Greensboro / High Point, NC, area is hot (85 - 90 !)
Last evening I removed the towel and placed the whole bunch in a large pot filled with potting soil, to protect them and buy some time.
But, HELP !! I really need advice !
Do I plant them now, water, and just hope for the best? Or, keep them crowded in the pot, and plant later? If so, When?
HELP !! And, Thanks!
