J C Raulston Arboretum - Upcoming Events

This year's series of every other week lectures at the JCRA in Raleigh starts this coming Thursday night at 7:30 pm (Sept 4th), with a talk by the director, Dr. Dennis Werner. A calendar of upcoming events is attached. All of these lectures are open to the public for a small fee ($5) and free to members of the Friends of the Arboretum. The free plant giveaway for members will be Oct. 11th and most people walk away with plants worth more than the cost of a membership. Membership benefits include discounts at local nurseries and restaurants.

Hopefully he will talk about the evils of topping-off trees, that is so prevalent up in NC.

I looked at the link and it is nice that they mention "Coming Attractions Â Highlights of September" to indicate what plants will be blooming at that time in their garden.

Really, what a great resource for those of you near the Arboretum.
