Smith and Hawken is having its last days closeout sale. I'll miss them. Got the neatest tools there.
Anyhoo, went today and found a Naturemill electric composter for 60% off. I'd been looking at getting one via catalogue but the price didn't seem to balance the use and value.
At 60% off, it went home with me. I'm constantly just tossing my coffee grounds out the kitchen door under a pair of big vitex trees..letting them rot naturally. I'm happy.

Dottie,
I have heard about coffee grounds before, but what is it for? Is it fertilizer?
Does it change the ph of the plant at all?
Do acidic plants like it?
Just wondering.

It's garbage, mainly. But well rotted and composted it adds to the tilth of the soil like other compost and by the time it's fully processed, the coffee acids should be negligible..most having been brewed out.
