Crazy Weather

I just thought I would share that my August Beauty gardenias are blooming now! I came home and noticed some white blooms and couldn't beleive it at first, but sure enought. The unfortunate thing is that they're not open and I think Monday's weather will kill the flowers.

I also have a few blooms on some of my Encore Azeleas.

Is this or has this happened to anyone else? If so, do find that it hurts the next years' bloom?

I don't know about that but i would cut the buds and bring them in and enjoy a sweetly scented centerpiece. You could float them in a bowl of water if there's not enough stem.

My azaleas have been blooming on and off since September. The cold weather last week got the tips of almost all of them. These are the $2 variety from Lowe's. I planted them in the spring when they were on sale and in bloom. I think they went dormant this summer with the heat and lack of rain. They thought it was spring again. I don't think I'll have blooms in the spring now. :(
