Bringing potted meyer lemon tree back to life in central NC

Hi! I live in central NC, in the Triangle area. We have a potted meyer lemon tree that we've had outside on our deck in the sun since March. It did well through the spring and summer -- had a lot of blossoms in spring and had about four small fruits on it. According to the instructions, we are supposed to bring it in once the weather gets cold. Unfortunately, we left it out in freezing cold weather for about 7-14 days. We've brought it inside now, but the fruits are shriveling and the leaves are falling off. Instead of just throwing the plant away and starting over, does anybody have any ideas for salvaging it?
