Do not plant in the wood. Insects like fresh young growth in good sunlight. Planting fast growing trees in with them will bring the insects closer to the good old trees and will kill them. I have a similar problem but with cucurbits. I plant species that the stripped & spotted cucumber Beatles prefers. I poison the plants so that no Beatles survives and they never get to my cucurbits.

What does the Asian aphasia like immensely over citrus. Is there a preferred citrus that can be used as a trap plant and grow a lot from seed. A heavy systemic poison will work wonders & don't clear the woods away from your old trees.

Hurricane Ike brought lots of the Asian citrus psyllids but not the disease to Texas so that does suggest they eat a lot besides citrus. Some of them were reportedly here before Ike but I never saw them.

Fortunately the heavy infestation was killed off by a really cold snap in 09/10. Since then, they were have not reappeared. I think that is because the County sprays for mosquitoes to control West Nile Virus. They sure control my beneficials too. Gone now
are the flights of green lacewings and my army of assassin bugs and the swept wing flies which catch white fly and leaf miner moths on the wing. The psyllids may be gone however because of the crazy ants that have moved in to "farm" the mealybugs, and in the process, have gotten rid of the psyllids. The crazy ants sure got rid of the fire ants. I only sprayed a little mixed chelated micros about three yrs ago.

Has anyone else in Texas seen citrus psyllids in the least few years?
