moving potted Meyer lemon to the garden

In the midst of January thaw in NH, I am already thinking spring gardening...
I have raised beds for my vegetables. I also have a Meyer lemon I bought in December 2011 at the local Agway, moved outside to the deck last spring, brought it in early last fall. It set fruit, three tiny ones by April, one fell off in a heavy rain right after I set it out, a second fell off after a very windy day literally pushed the little tree over against the railing. The third hung on, was the one that I picked in November. Then the plant promptly tried to defoliate (made it more than half way) but now seems to have settled down to slow refoliation. It looks good. I was thinking that perhaps this spring I would try digging down in one of the corners of one of the veg beds, and "heeling it in", pot and all, to give it more constant moisture and less wind dehydration than it experienced on the deck. Then next fall, resurrecting it, cleaning off the pot and back in he goes? What do you all think?
