Introducing myself to the citrus gang

Hello everyone,
My name is Jeremy or you can can call me Nerdish :P I live in Oklahoma City and have just moved here recently from Texas. I have had my unknown variety potted lemon tree for a year and it's blooming for the first time (so exiciting!). My girlfriend and I will be adding house plants in the near future and was wanting to get some ideas on what to grow. I love the idea of potted trees but have never heard of a potted apple, orange, cheery ect... tree. Not its important because I also live fragrant flowers but I'm a bit of a newbie green thumb and don't know where to start. I have a small flower garden out front (morning-noon sun) that I planted a very fragrant crinum lily that I have fallen in love with as well as some beautiful Texas star hibiscus to surround the black diamond crepe myrtles( red and white). This year we will be adding some hybrid day lilies to surround the front to fill in a lot of the gaps. If any of this doesn't makes since please let me know. Not sure if the crepe myrtles can go in the same soil as day lilies. Come to think about it this sounds like a discussion meant for another forum. So back to the original question of what other potted fruits can I take into consideration for purchase for our new home?

Welcome Welcome Welcome you can call me nerdish # 2. I remember my first post I was just excited as you are right now. There is a huge bank of knowledge here that is for sure. You picked a good variety to start with off that being the lemon . Next I would try a bearrs lime, that will really impress your friends when your having a party on your deck and you pull off a lime or lemon to garnish their drinks.Those were my first 2 and people just could not believe I could grow these trees this far north. I really hope you enjoy the forum and keep thinking summer willl be here before you know it.

Why don't you think of different types of citrus trees?

You can never get sick of the fragrance of citrus blossoms! Instead of waiting for one or two to blossom at a certain time of the year, grow others that will bloom while others are out of bloom or fruiting..Yum!

hey Jeremy. Im over in Tulsa. The Oklahoma gardening forum here is very active and full of very knowledgeable people. Come introduce yourself.

You can try and keep apples and others in pots but our climate is just fine for them in the ground. If you are worried about size dont be. You can control how big or how small you want them with winter and summer pruning.

your crepes and lilies will be just fine together. I just got some Black Diamond's on clearance and cant wait to see them bloom
