meyers lemons have no juice

After 2 years of waiting, I finally got a Meyers to bloom, then put on a sizable crop just in time for the freeze, then the drought. I covered both trees, watered them and thought I had made it but when I picked 2 of the very yellow lemons, there was hardly any juice in them...very dry looking. Drought or freeze or both??? What to do?? They get about 6-7 hours of sun in the summer and I fertilized them.

I would guess frost; Meyers are arguably the juiciest citrus in the world. My Meyers yield 70% juice by weight. By contrast the Eureka lemon is rarely over 30% and the Valencia orange typically comes in around 40-45%.

Freeze takes the juice out of any citrus. If you look at any Citrus orchard growing where possibility of freeze exists, they have multiple turbines which go on as soon as the temps drop. Commercial growers protect their crops.

I doubt it was drought. It was Freeze!
