My 2nd year citrus all survived, but took some bad damage. I was away from town when the January deep freeze hit and it was unexpected by me. The only protection my trees had was a recent application of anti-stress 2000. My trees are all sprouting lots of new leaves now. I haven't fertilized yet, but may this weekend. I suspect I won't let any of the citrus trees keep fruit again this year because of the damage that needs recovery.

I got totally wiped out of dragonfruit and I won't try again with them. My overwintered peppers are all dead and I have new seedlings going indoors to replace them. Lost several landscape plants as well, bougainvillea and hibiscus killed to the ground . The figs and the pomegranates are unfazed though. The pomegranates are looking forward to summer sun, the figs not so much. There isn't much about Tucson weather that pomegranates don't like.

I see a lot of sad looking palms around the neighborhoods. You know it was an unusual winter when you see 20 year old palms looking like they may not make it. I don't have any palms myself.

Sorry to hear about your damage. I think all my stone fruits (and pomos and figs) liked the chill hours and my almond trees are beginning to bloom now. Did you see the below article in this morning's newspaper? Of course, the airport is warmer than many places here, so I think it was worse than the article states.

I agree about fertilizing. But, I need to spray the yard for weeds first. They are beginning to sprout like crazy now...

According to Channel 13, something wet is on the horizon for next (not this) weekend, but of course, that is a while away. I need to get my pre-emergent down so it can be rained in if in fact it does rain.....I have about 2 acres to do....
